There are a lot of reasons why alternative energy is favorable despite the big expense that it brings about to the world economy. There are economists who believe that by using this form of energy, a country's financial system will drop off drastically. Based on the on-going studies conducted by several research groups, worldwide, investing for alternative energy may cost a great deal of money: however this belief can be considered as a drawback for only today. As the fossil fuels, coal and uranium, which are the main sources of energy, fuel, and electricity, are getting used up it is expected that the price that will be spent for alternative energy today will equal the regular price of energy (kwh) in the future.
The Alternative Energy System has invaluable benefits that range from a consistent multitude of societal, ecological and economical advantages. It does not produce toxic waste materials, harmful pollutants and emissions (greenhouse gases) produced by factories and power generating plants that directly affect Mother Nature. Since it is a renewable energy source it will not use up the already limited stock of fossil fuels, coals and some other natural resources that are becoming extinct. This only means that the next generation will have plenty of these resources and the future is never at risk.
Without a doubt alternative energy will surely provide a stable price since it will not be imported from other oil-producing countries anymore. Likewise, there will be an ample supply of power to the neighboring residents since this form of energy will be produced locally. And because the sources are renewable, investing for an alternative energy system today not only guarantees security in energy production for the future but also ensures a fixed price in oil and energy, which nowadays is ever fluctuating.
There is no better time to stop the society's reliance on the conventional energy sources but now. Every thing has its own beginning, though the transition may not start up smoothly but as technology advances, in time, this form of energy will eventually hold us independent from fossil fuels, coals and nuclear power. Nature is life's treasure, thus the resources that maintain its glamour should be preserved. Preserving today's natural resources is like preserving the lives of the next generation. We should invest on something that both the present and the future generation will benefit. This way we will be able to sustain the needs of today and the next generation.

I would like to see two studies:
How much of the country's gasoline need will be reduced if large companies are required to ensure that a large percentage of their employees telecommute?
Since oil was first discovered, how much has been given by the Federal government (and perhaps state governments) to the oil companies in the form of subsidies & tax credits and other incentives to conduct research and to develop the industry as it exists today? And what do such incentives add up to today on annual basis?
Why not end these subsidies and transfer the funds to alternative energy research? The same oil companies might find it advantageous to get into alternative energy.
This is the motivation behind my alternative energy research efforts. When I find the key, I will release it freely.
It's unfortunate they've been shelving wind and solar power for so long. I mean, I know we have fields with those crazy white windmills dotting the landscape, and a handful of people run their houses on solar power, but there doesn't seem to be anyone out there who's making a huge effort to turn them into reliable energy sources for everyday use. Our dependence on and greed over oil has completely eclipsed our desires to make this planet a safer/healthier place to live. Sorry for the rant… but I do quite like your ideas. I wonder if, even if slightly idealistic, they would be possible? Do you think BP would give up half of their profits for a decade to alternative energy research and development? Just some things that have been floating around my brain
The dollar is right where the Fed wants it. They believe a weak dollar helps exports, which helps our recovery.
Oil also is close to where the Fed and OPEC want it, For the Fed, not so high as to slow the economy, but high enough to keep alive oil exploration, as well as alternative energy research. For OPEC, not so high as to stimulate massive exploration and a large move to alternative energy, but high enough to make a good profit.
The theoretical danger of a weak dollar is inflation, but so long as inflation remains low, the Fed will keep interest rates (and the dollar) low. Many economists feel 0% is the ideal Fed Funds rate.

It seems like the House is taking a step in the right direction to help stimulate alternative energy research. The start up costs for such companies can be extremely high, so that they have to charge a high amount for their services, making them unable to compete with traditional fossil fuel energy. The tax incentives will help lower costs and make biofuels a feasible option.
Yes, I agree with you, we are depleting the natural resources of our planet and we should use part of those resources for space exploration in alternative energy research and preservation of the environment, but curiosity is an innate feature of human beings and also when we think we have something, we want more.
